Default Driving problems????

i was driving my sp500 around today doing some wheeling in a creek and it never went deep enbough to suck in water through the air in take but when the water got a certain height it would stop moving. the four wheeler would rev up and not drive but once it was outta the creek and sat for a few minutes and started again it would drive normal..any ideas on why this would be?

the belt is getting wet, the belt cover seal must be bad, take the cover off and check it .

The belt is underneath the large plastic cover on the left side of the machine as you are sitting on it. There is a seal that keeps the water from gettting in and it sounds like it is worn out or maybe even missing. you should be able to tell if it is bad once you take the cover off....

On my 2000 500 even if you didn't get water that high sometimes driving fast or splashing down in the water would let water in the clutch cover vent. Causing the belt and clutches to get wet and slip. Pretty sure thats what happened to you.

Yep, bad seal on the clutch cover, or it may even be cracked

ya thanks yall bc it did it once when i was in deep water and then twice when i was splashing through muddy water holes pretty fast..now cheecking for cracks in it and seeing if the seal was bad could i just silicone around the seal and put it back together and be good or would i need to get a new seal to prevent it from happening again. also im planning on snorkeling it here ina few weeks, do you think that would help out as welll??

I would buy actual seal, then it should be good. If you are going to play in the water a snorkel will help keep water out. The main think to watch when you snorkel is to not get to small of snorkel or to tight of bends in your pipe. If you do it restricts the air flow and make you clutches and belt run hotter which will cause a lot more wear and tear.
