Default Trading up to the new XP's (What we all want to know)

Questions: (Looking at the 550XP)

1) Seems like I would need all new lock&ride items (I.E. Rear cargo box, gun scabbard etc., brushguards, rack extenders)? Would my backrest and saddle bags fit their new L&R Rear cargo box?
2) Can I still keep my Warn 2500 lb winch but just buy a new mount kit?
3) My 27"x12" Mudlites, how would that work with a bike made for 14"?
4) Could I get a real good deal now with end of year sales? Interest rates, etc.?
5) Is that trade up offer with the extended warrenty and shifter **** still going?
6) I finally found a pretty local dealer that will allow me to do a "Demo ride" first to test the EPS to the non-EPS, wheew heew! How many tried before they buyed?
7) From the on-line Polaris web page I am not seeing black? I thought some on here had the black body color? Was that in 09's or 2010's?
8) I have the Glacier 2 plow system. Could I get away with just needing a new frame (XP type?)
9) Standard rear working lights? Or would I need to add that like in our 08' models?

** 10) This is the biggie for me, could someone catalog in short description the running list of recall or known issues that the dealer needs to fix/replace? I will NOT buy these new XP's unless I know my bike issues are addressed before it rolls off the show room floor.

Thanks everyone!

1) I dont believe the lock and ride will change over. The scabbard will but the bracket it goes in will not.
2) Yes assuming you can buy just the mount plate from polaris.
3) 12" wheel will not fit on the xp.
4) Thats a dealer question
5) Another dealer question but I dont think so.
6) Don't ride it. You will have to have it.
7) I think they were 09 stealth. Not sure.
8) The xp pushtubes and mount plate are both different. I believe the bar the pushtube attaches to is a larger diameter. The mount plate is heavier duty.
9)Only the LE models had them in 09. dunno for 10.
10) Don't know about 550.

4) With the 10's out you would think you could find a pretty good deal on a left over 09,but that varies from dealer to dealer
5) No,expired 31 Dec 2008 IIRC
6) If you are going to upgrade get the EPS IMO,I bet the only people who may try to talk you out of it are those who don't have it!
7) Stealth was availble in 09,not sure what is available for 10,but I know the colors changed some.
10) The only issues the dealer is going to fix before it leaves is an actual recall, afaik there are none for the 550. Any other issues, such as ball joints and clicking axles, will have to produce symtoms first..
The axle "issue" was only a certain batch of axles so you may or maynot get one, only way to know afaik is if they start clicking.
The balljoint issue is arguably caused by machining tolerances with the alum knuckle...doubtful many dealers have the skill or would be even willing to disassemble and take the required measurements to determine if you are likely going to have a problem. Besides IMO it is yet to be seen if Polaris fully addressed the issue with a good fix.

To get the stealth for 2010, it has to be the EPS model and a 850. No 550 stealth for 2010.

IMO, get the camo or stealth because it can take more abuse and show less scratches. I've seen all the colors crack rather easily.

just called my dealer, they have 1 850 stealth. im thinking about getting it, just have to chat with the fiance.

i also thought about the 550 being the price is cheaper, but i couldnt think of going from my 08 800 i had to the 550. i think the worst thing right now about them (for me anyways) is the 14" wheels.

good luck with your decision

2 is yes, you could get a cheap mount plate from KFI
3, like the others said, the 12" wheels won't fit over the brake rotors, so your SOL on that part

I tried before I "buyed". That's why I didn't go back to the Yamaha dealer after I rode an 850 on a small dirt track. I was hooked on the XP in less than 2 minutes. Grizz with PS was a nice machine, but too tipsy for me. XP 850 was low smooth and fast. Yes, it's heavier and less agile on the tight trails, but it feels great and I'm not racing anybody. Great plow machine. Get the 850 with EPS. You won't be sorry.

#8 Pretty sure the Glacier II will work with new mount kit. Was just at the dealer looking at one.

I thought you pulled the trigger six months ago???
