Default '96 scrambler 400 loose sprockets

I had a lot of play in the rear axle and decided to change the bearings. As I was pulling everything apart, I noticed the teeth of the rear sprocket chipped and it is not tight on the rear shaft. Seems like there should not be that much play in the collar. Also noticed the front sprocket is toast as well. Is the sprocket normally the problem when it gets loose or is it possible I have a problem with the splines on the axles as well? Hoping that it is just normal for the splines on the sprockets to wear and not the shaft.

Thanks,
