What is Honda doing to keep up with the pack?
With the new 650 and 700 coming out the Rubicon will be in trouble. Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumors as to the plan of attack from Honda. I currently ride a Rancher ES 4x4. It is way behind even the 500 Sportsman much less what is on the way.

Big and fast sport/utility quads are great, but remember bigger engines= larger machines and for me the rubicon is the largest I would ever buy. Alot of the trails we ride are narrow and designated as atv/dirt bike only trails. If I wanted a bigger machine I would have to use jeep roads most the time. And you can only go so fast in the woods anyway!! And the bigger and faster these atv's become and with more and more people on our trail system more idiots will be crashing into responsible riders!! Just my opinion!!!!

the sportsman700 is a Inline-twin 48hp with EFI. polaris is using this engine in a new sled for yellowstone, as well as a ALL-NEW sport quad.
im not sure how much torque it has but im sure its alot.

hopefully the sp700 will be out write after the Kawie650 is available.

It will not be an inline twin, and Polaris doesn't make a 4 stroke sled for Yellowstone...and I think it's a triple 660cc, and not a twin.
Why not an inline twin? way too wide!!! They have to add the clutch added to it...no way.
It's arctic cat that "sells" a 4 stroke sled to the Yellowstone park...and it's a dog!! And I really think the engine is a triple, not a twin (not sure of this last one).

Zorro,

u need to go to polaris's website. they just came out with a four stroke sled, with EFI. and that engine will be put into the new sp700.
true the four-stroke sleds arnt as fast as the two-strokes, but there alot quieter and much better on emisions.

Also ditto MTNMAN. What's it take to keep some people happy? To judge "progress" solely by cc's is silly, witness comparing a Rancher with a 500cc quad. Maybe Ceet should come out with a "Exterminator 1000cc" sticker to put on a 90cc mini. Cool.

no hes right there is a polaris four stroke sled. i saw it on the news. tourists weren't liking all the noise and emisions on of the 2 strokes. I think it was polaris maybe an artic cat. they started it up and it sounded really quiet.

Probably would have to throw that sled off a cliff to get it to go past 50mph though.
