I have a 97 and as some of you have seen am going to be adding another quad in the near future. I no what the specs say the differences are but what is the real world difference. I know the newer models have a bit more power but I also know they carry more weight. Have any of you been on the 97 and a newer model ? Is there that much difference ?

Yes! Far better machines from 98 and up. Much more power, not to mention you'll have 2 fewer chains and 4 fewer sprockets. Weight is not much different though.

A whole world of difference. As previously said alot less chains about the same weight a different motor with more power and a revised cylinder head. The 97's were known to have bad top ends.Although there very similar off the line this has alot to do with the fact of lightwieght aluminium rims on the 97's as apposed to heavy steel on the newer ho's.take one for a spin you'll probably buy one if you like your 97.
