Possibly purchasing a scrambler, opnions wanted!
#1
I currently have a 1998 sportsman 500. Recently I have been considering adding a scrambler to the fleet, so I can have some speed down the trails. (sportsman cant keep up with my brothers YFZ450)
Anyways there is a 1998 scrambler 400 4x4 local to me for $650, but it needs a new lower case.
Would you guys consider this a good deal? All repairs would be done by me not paying someone. I have experience rebuilding a few blasters so I have a general idea of what i'm doing.
What would be the pro's/con's of this machine over say a 2001 model (there a few of these local but a little more than i want to spend on a scrambler)
Just want to hear some thoughts?!?

Is there a hole in thecase? Did he run his chain through it? I have replaced my case and it wasn't too difficult. I loved my scrambler and if it isn't too beat then it might be OK. If the engine needs rebuilt, I would buy something else.
