Default Clearing diagnostic codes

Hello Can anyone tell me how to clear the codes on my 2006 polaris sportsman 500. I Took off the positive battery but that does not seem to work.

The repair manual is saying to disconnect positive battery lead for 20 seconds...Maybe you didn't have it off long enough...Not sure...

It the code the service wrench icon?
Or with the engine/EFI..??

I by no means consider myself an expert, but from what I know If you take the positive terminal off for 20 sec. and you are still getting a code, that means the sensor is still sending that code to the computer.

If the code is on the POD (service icon) the POD has a built in battery back-up so when the battery is disconnected or removed ..........The milage and odometer info is not lost.........Caper.............

It is the EFI codes that do not seem to clear It Has 45, 46 and 55.

Sorry....Someone with a EFI will help you out there.......
I have the Carb models that I can work on myself............Caper.........

Yes I wish i would have stuck with the carb model. EFI Is A pain in the Butt.

That EFI stuff has kept me from upgrading! It was a pain in automobiles for the first five to seven years.

Default Clearing codes.

Spoke to the polaris dealer in my area today. They told me that they are the only ones that can clear the codes at a cool $99.00 An hour.
Their shop rates are out of control !!!. Thank-you everyone for your help.
