Scrambler 500 wont start...just backfires

My 01 scrambler wont start.it ran great when i rode it 2 weeks ago.now when i try to start it it just backfires and sputters.any ideas??

try putting a new spark plug in it

If plug is not the problem,check valve clearance (.006 intake and exhaust) and especially the exhaust cam lobe. Could be worn down causing spitting,backfiring. OPT

thanks for the tips,ill try the new plug first and see what happens

i think thats too new for the bad cams but maybe valve clearance.
