How Deep is too Deep to Plow?
#1
Last snow was 24" and could not even go 10 feet. This snow was 18" and could not get through either due to ground clearance. At what point does it become useless to try and plow? Thanks!

I had no problem plowing out when im in 18 inches of snow you just have to take smaller passes at it. The first pass i make i don't drop the entire blade just take off enough so i don't have to worry about bottoming out. Go slow and try not to spin the tires once you do that your done pushing that pile.

If we get a big storm, I go out every few inches just to get the big part of it cleaned off......Remember to push it back far enough so you'll have room later on in the season...If you're gonna get that much snow , hit it a couple times....JMO....

I agree, don't let it get that deep, but we were gone over this last storm, and our entire driveway had at least a foot everywhere, and then 2 drifts that where at least 4' tall, and I it took some time to do, but don't try to push all of it at once, take a few inches off each time, and you'll get it eventually

I have plowed up to a foot before when helping clear others driveways after a big dump and have dropped the blade completely but only taken a half blade width pass and that seems to work well. Keeps decent traction as tires have something to grip but weight etc aren't an issue for pushing.

I use my machine for commercial plowing, last storm was 16"-18" with 2'-3' Drifts and I had no problem. I was pushing some serious snow, once you get going on a long run there is nothing stopping the atv. However, it really depends on the machine your using & tires. The 850xp is heavy, powerfull, and I have new Bighorns 2.0's mounted which is a world of a difference vs the stock tires.

When the ATV spins all 4 wheels and will not go any further ,then the snow is to deep or heavy, thats when your want the snow blower attachment instead of the plow.

Blade out one way and don't drop the blade all the way if you can't keep moving forward. That heavy, wet stuf you guys got is a pain but you definitely want it moved before it freezes! Had that happen here back in December. Spent too much time plowin out friends/family/neighbors and most my place was frozen by the time I got to it. Took a over a week of busting it up with a spade shovel and then moving it. Going to be an interesting Spring. Might sell the mighty glacier and plunk down some big coin on a v-plow for next season.
