I made a bucket kinda like bobcat bucket out of 2x2's osb( plywood). 4' wide x 18" high x 16" deep. Start it on top of roof either pull down with the winch or with the strap hooked to bumper. You need to attach the to the box on both sides of the bucket so pulls down straight, and take it easy so as not rip any shingles. Have done this for years now and not one shingle has been torn. But our roof is only 3 yrs old now, and I'm a carpenter so I can fix if something were to happen to the roof. If you're not handy in the carpentry, roofing or handyman stuff it could get expensive. i also put this thick plastic on the bottom of bucket and heated it enough to roll front edge up slightly.

JCD, any chance that a LOWES or Home Depot would carry roof rakes?
