Default 96 scrambler 400 - rear axle reassembly

I just replaced everything in my rear axle and I was wondering if someone could tell me how far I should turn in the jam nuts after reassembly. If I remember corrrectly, the rear sprocket should float a little. If I turn the nut all the way in, everything is tight. Is there a particular dimension? I don't have a manual so hopefully someone can help me out.

Thanks,

i believe the initial preload is 50 ft.-lbs. then loosen right(passenger side) nut until axle turns easily.
