2007 650 efi arctic cat

My son purchased the machine and he has a problem when backing up, it makes a loud binding type noise, I jacked up the rear end and it ran fine both forward and reverse no noise. please help

first thing that comes to mind are the wheel bearings but since you said it only does it in reverse it could be the rear differential or maybe the axle(s) bearings. hard to say with out hearing it. Also, just to clearify, the 650 is carburated. the 700s are efi. Welcome to the forum.

Check your brake shoes as well. I had the little pin come off that holds the brake pads in place and for some strange reason they would bind when I went backwards.
Seems the little pin that held the brake pads in palce has a little cotter pin that came off or rusted off and broke. I replaced it with a 12d nail that I clipped and bent to the proper length. No prpblems since.

thanks for the heads up on the motor i thought it was an efi my mistake thanks for the heads up on the break system i will check it out for, him also i just helped him change out the right side cv joint out boot brake on that side seemed to be ok
