110 hummer from GIO wont climb hills well
#5
I ride in the mountains. Everything is uphill or downhill with flat areas being the exception. The gearing on the TaoTao 110cc was just too high 2.4 to 1. It was constantly bogging down. So I changed the front sprocket to 12T and the rear to 48T. Now with a 4 to 1 ratio it pulls nice all over. The top speed is still more than I need.

i had a thread about the same thing with a gio 50cc in the expert section, my son who is 6 and approx 60 pounds cant drive it up the trailer ramp without me pushing....a buddy suggested swapping the sprocket but i wondered if something was availabe to bolt right on and i wasnt sure if it would make much difference but im glad its tried and true! thanks

Finding the correct sprockets was the hard part, installing the sprockets, easy. Don't forget you will need a longer chain to complete the job. FYI, I had to cut off the lower rear sprocket guard to allow the larger diameter to fit.

Where did you get the sprockets? What was the stock sprocket sizes?
