Default 06 Yamaha Wolverine 450 problems

Sorry for my ignorance here but I am completely clueless what I am doing and I should probably just take the machine in and have it checked by someone that does know what they are doing but really don't want to get taken advantage of so I am trying to at least figure out what the problem is first.

I can't seem to get my Wolverine started at all. The last time it was running, it was running fine for about 20 min, then it stalled out and I couldn't get it to start again. It was cold out so I parked it and left it until warmer weather to take a look. Now when I try to start it all I get is a clicking/knocking sound from one of the boxes under the seat. Would this be a starter issue? I have also read alot of issues with Stators...could it be that? Heck knowing my luck it is probably both or even worse, but any help on what I should check would be much appreciated. (And I already replaced the battery and that didn't help so seems I wasted the money on that)

Trace the route of the battery cables, and make sure all connections are clean-unscrew cable and clean all contact points with wd-40 and toothbrush-and tight.

Once done, repost here.
