Polaris Magnum 330
#1
My neighbor is in declining health and asked me to sell his Magnum. He never really rode it that much, so I took it home to clean it up. I have heard this is more of a workhorse than a trail atv. Can anyone fill me in on this?
Also, It seems like its gonna need some work. It wont shift into Park or High, which is basically all the way back or all the way forward, respectivly. What could this be? It also doesnt idle or stay running very well, possibly because it hasnt been ran in a couple years. Lastly, the indicator lights seem like there is a short in them because they become dimmer and brighter. Does all this seem like its going to be a costly fix? Im wondering if im going to have to get rid of it cheap because of all the problems with it.

Yes the magnums are considered more of a work horse. Solid rear axle, a little slower than some of equal size but built and geared for work. A really solid machine overall. Inspect the shift linkages, may be out of adjustment. If it's been sitting quite a bit I'd pull the carb for a good cleaning and adjust the A/F mix. As far as the lights go, I'd first check the battery and charging system. Could be just a old worn out battery. If you have any mechanical abilitys it should'nt be to much trouble or cost to fix the issues.

If wont shift into hi or park, make sure spring on brake pedal is attached to trans detent. Brake pedal has to be pushed before it will go into hi or park. I would clean the carb and check/replace plug and air filter.Could be battery weak/not holding charge on the dimming problem.
