Default So $31.69 for oil and filter????

Ok is this way too high to pay for the oil and filter I went to the dealer that I bought My X2 from and they gave me the stuff and then the price and I almost crapped I dont pay that much to have someone do it for me on my car.

Anyone have good substitute oil and or filters that wont affect the life of my atv.

I have a 550 efi X2

My dealer charges me $24 and some change for the oil change kit. I was using mobile-1 0W-40 synthetic and a napa filter but the price of mobile-1 oil jumped to $8.00 a quart around here and $5.00 for the filter. I said screw it I'll use the polaris kit for $3.00 more. You might find deals on the popo kits online cheap?

You can do way better by just using Valvoline 10-40 (Autozone) and a oil filter from Napa (Wix) In a utility machine that does not turn the RPM's like a race bike ( like a YFZ 450) IMHO there is no need for synthetic oil! My guess is less than $15.00 for both!

i just got a case of 6 0w40 mobile for 5.99 a qt and a wix filter for $3.50

your $35 filter is ALOT over priced for a filter thats 1/2 the size of an automotive filter. id be looking else where.

Not sure about the new 550, but Polaris use thin weight 0W or 2W oil for a reason. Many people pre worn there cams on the 500 by using 10W-30 on the 500s. The lower number means the oil flow thiner and faster on cold starts.

Synthetic oil breaks down much slower then dinosaur oil and handle exstream temps better. You only have to change you oil every 400 miles so $31 is not bad. Our dealer charges $25 Canadian for the kit.

Same kit from my dealer about $25..You spent $9,000 for the bike, why worry about 4 or 5 bucks??

I feel the same way about getting gouged.
Just did changes on 2 of my quads
$15- k&n oil filter
$10- 1 qt oil

Next time I'll check out Napa for my parts.
But I'll always use the fully synthetic oil b/c I live in Arizona
and the synth oils have a much higher temp rating before losing viscosity.

If you do a search you can find the explanation of differences between the 2.
