Default Is 3k Miles too many?

I have been looking to pick up another cheap 4x4 for my family. I found a decent deal on a 2002 Sportsman 700 4x4. I have a 500 right now and know what to look for in regards to the common popo issues. This machine is very clean and the older guy who owns it looks like he did decent maintanence on it. The only downfall is the machine has 3k miles on it, 400 hours. I talked him down quite a bit and the machine is pretty much flawless otherwise. He has the transferable reg, it comes with a 3000lb warn winch, kimpex pass. seat and a couple other goodies. The only thing that is hindering me buying it...is the mileage.

What do you guys think? I mean I rather have a well maintained machine with high miles than a poor maintained machine with low miles. It is a 2002 so is 3k to be expected for the year? I could use some help deciding.....obviously lol. Oh, I talked him down to 2300.

For 2300 I think that's more than fair, if it was truly well maintained I wouldn't worry about the 3k miles. I'll take a high mileage well maintained machine over a low mileage mudder that some kid has beaten on every second of it's life, that's just my opinion...

Mileage mean nothing as long as proper maintenance has been performed. That is a good deal at $2300.

If 3000 miles was a lot I know people who would need a new ATV every 2 years.
