Default 7800 miles on a Magnum 500

I had a 2000 Polaris Magnum 500 with 7800 miles on it and it kept up with everybody I went riding with. Sold it 6 months ago for $2750 and bought a 2005 Sportsman 500 with 2000 miles on it and the Magnum ran as good as the Sportsman does.

Overall I would call that "low" miles. I personally average about 1500 miles a year..... I don't get out anywhere near as much as I would like to, if I was able to ride when I want I would see 3000 miles a year as a minimum. On my current machine I bought a 5yr extended warranty and made sure it didn't come with a mileage limitation.

The first thing you could do is a compression check to get an idea of whether or not they are hard miles. Also check the valves and ask how often the previous owner had them checked/adjusted.

So, I picked her up tonight. I think I got a really good deal. It has 2913mi, has a clutch kit, feels and sounds really tight, and I can tell the guy was maticulous with this machine. It also came with a Kimpex passenger seat (with keys even) and all the stock parts (clutch, etc.). Also, paperwork so I can register it and even the owners manual lol. Don't mind the passenger seat, I don;t have it mounted on the machine yet.

Took it for a quick spin tonight, holy crap what a difference from my 500. What do you guys think??

Good deal! Relax about the miles. Trail miles are nothing compared to mudding or playing in water. I would rather have 3K trail miles than 500 play miles. Just on 2 trips I have put over 800 miles on my 09 850XP. If we have to drive 6 hours to ride. Ride we do! My buddy just sold his 08 SP800 with 6K on it. Original belt and tires. Still looked almost like new.

You have the same Kimpex box we do on our 850, great seat but check under the arm rests to make sure the bolts will not pull out. They used cheap particle board for a backing and that area holds water when down. I have over 4K miles on each of our 2 500HO's and they still run like new so your's is just past broken in.

It's also a good idea to ask the seller if they have been keeping a maintenance record of the machine . When I go to sell mine I'll be able to give the next buyer a list including the date , hours and mileage of everything that was ever done to the quad since day one . They will be able to see it all as I right it down in the back of the manual Polaris leaves you a spot for it .
