I purchased a 1983 185s from a neighbor, said it ran great last year. Fires right up when choked. when i unchoke it however it runs really rich and wont throttle up.. sounds like its bogging out. I thought it was a bad carb since a very good cleaning didnt help it and replaced the carb with a new aftermarket. It does the same... what can I do to fix this? and yes i've already adjusted the fuel mixture to the correct settings and i've tried the needle at different heights. im between 4-5k feet above see level.

 

Sounds as though the flow of gas to the carb is obstructed somehow. Have you checked that?
