Default Rebuild Help needed

I am rebuilding my 03 trailboss. It is a 330 and I have an engine with a bad biston that I am putting my parts into it. He said all it needed was piston and jug. Got new rod, wrist pin rings in it. When I took mine apart the spring lever fell out of the cam. I said no biggie I have another motor. As I was takinfg this one apart I noticed the lever is out of this cam. I know it is the decompression lever but the cheapest I can find one is about 60.00 before shipping. Anyone know of any work around on this, where to possibly get another one or should I just bite the bullet and arder one. Thanks Tony

I'm not saying you can't install the cam with out the detent lever, but it would be somewhat harder to turn over with the electric starter and the recoil starter would be harder also. The purpose of this system is to lightly open the exhaust valves lowering compression, allowing the engine to spin over faster when cranking. OPT

Thank You OPT. I have read enough to value your answers. I have ordered the parts but it might be a couple weeks before I get them I was just wondering if I could run it and put them in later. Not sure if I will try or not just have a ride planned nad would like to get thsi runnoing and make sure all is ok before. TonyT

There should be a small detent ball operated by the lever, cant say you could install lever later and have the ball still able to line up while in the engine. My opinion is to do it right and wait for correct parts.
