I'm getting new goggles for my MX helmet to use for summer and winter. I want to buy a goggle with a single lens for summer riding. But the company I'm buying from is telling me I should get a replacement double lens cause the single will fog in the winter. Anyone have any experience with this. Also, he says the Amber colored lens is better than the clear for the double lens. Any opinions or personal experiences would be helpful!!

Double lenses are designed for winter riding. They allow a layer of warm air between the lenses to keep foging to a minimum.

But for the summer months you will want the single lens. The reason for this is because the doubles can get dust and water between them and there is no way to clean them out. So single for summer and double it up for winter.

Ok, I'm convinced to get doubles for winter riding, but do I get the amber colored lenses or clear double lenses?? I like to ride a lot at night on my sled, will this affect vision?

Yunno - I've seen in mags or somewhere a "peeler" type shield for MX racers. Non of my group have them, however it would be nice at times. When we are on MAIN logging roads that are well stoned and fast we end up having terrible dust storm. Oh to be leading the pack during these times! But what we end up with is the dust collecting on the shield and then when you wipe it off it scratches the lens. Well after a day of this, you can't hardly see out that lens anymore.
With those peelers, all you have to do is peel a small layer off and you are all new again. I'm not sure how many layers thre are. At least 10 I think. I have no idea how much they are, but it may be something to check out for summer.
Maybe someone else can expand on this some more.

Get the scott turboflow, there a double vented lens, there's no fog in the winter or summer and keep you cool. I think you can get the lens alone that fits the scott 89's in gray, clear, yellow and peach. These are a good set-up and only run about $25 for them complete or $14 for just the lens. Try bobs cycle supply thats where I got mine. www.bobscycle.com

Get the amber lens for winter. Makes a world of difference. Everything stands out much better with them.
