Went to HPD today to get a closer look at the 250 reed motor an left very impressed. They have it at 42 hp at the crank right now with the pipe the made for it an 35mm flatslid carb. They have taken it to Staples MN indoor race track an raced it an it it did very well till the rear shock broke. I did how ever find out for all you that want more power soon they have a race port kit for the 250 that is 38hp on race gas the kit is listed at $800 it comes with the porting, piston pipe, head work, clutch kit an gaskets. Im going to send my cyclender in as soon as it is off an get the race port done it is $200 for that. He has told me they have been doing the race port for awhile. I bought the roller clutch today an chain tensioner an new piston.

Hey x_srambler3,
Did they give you any idea as to when the reed conversion kit would be available?
Is the 42 hp bike the trail version or the full race quad? Last time that I talked to Darrell, he told me that they were working on two versions. The one for trail had about 36 hp and the race version had 38-40 hp and runs on 110 octane gas.
What about any pricing?????????

They are two differnt kit but use alot of the same parts. The ones I saw were both the race kits. They do not yet have a price on the reed cage one yet still testing but the tec guy I talked to asid it would be more then the race porting kit. with the race porting kit being 800 with out the carb I would think the reedcage one would be at least 1000 to 1200. Oh if anyone is intressted they have a full race built quad they make for sale an the framw has one indoor race on it it is 3000 cheaper then the all new one. The most amazing thing I saw was an experimental motor they use to race at one of the monster truck races quad wars race. The rules there only allow 340cc two strokes so They had a complete cyclender made so he has built a 340 motor. I was told they have it dynoed at 80hp. WOOOOOOOW He did not think it would be something he will make because of the cost of having the cyclender made.
I got the DG pipe is because at the time it was the only co to have one to fit the 95. I hope HPD makes the pipe I saw on the reed cage motor it look cool. The DG pipe has been working good for me

$1000 - $1200 is what I was guessing myself. But do you guys really think it's worth that kind of money? I'd love to do it but if it didn't basically rip my arms off the first time I took off across the field then I'd be very upset. Maybe if your ready to do all that it's time to just sell the TB and buy a Scram.......?
Decisions, decisions.....

I own both quad an my TB is been a very dependable quad. If remeber right the scrambler is about 2000 more then the TB. An if you add the bolton's to the scrambler you will have quiet a bit invested.I know for what I use my TB for this is great someone is doing some big power mods for it.

Im very excited about this conversion also.. Im hoping it works out like planed.. I can see a size or two larger tires on my xplorer already.. I think it would rock to have a "mudder" 250 xplorer that actually has the power to turn larger tires..Im sure that it would draw some attention lol..Im like lurch i like the sleeper concept..
