I just got a new outlander 500 that I sunk, the whole thing was in for about a minute we got it out and my friend towed it back home. We tipped it up to get water out of the exhaust and I drained the oil to get a lot of water out and put new oil in. After all this it started right up but it runs funny, normally it would idle at 1300 hundred rpm but now it's at 1600 and also the top speed went down. Should I have done anything else?

 

Clean carb, spark plugs and air filter. Water can really do a job on the engine if you don't get it all out.

 

Did you pull the plugs and turn it over with no plugs in it to blow water out of the cylinder? failure to do so can cause major engine damage. ie broken or bent rods and cracked or broken pistons

 

check the differentials...
