Default I have a 84 250r with problems

I baught a honda 250r and it ran awesome but I recently put carb cleaner and octane boost in. it ran for a bit and now its blowing smoke and fouling my plugs within 3 4 minutes of running the new plug should I have not put that in. I'm going to try and put new gas in tomorrow with a new plug is there anything else I should do? it was running awesome and still wants to start.

drain the carb of its gas, dump the gas out of the tank, put in fresh gas mixed 24/1 with quality 2 stroke pre mix oil (yamlube) and a new spark plug. if it still runs like crap, pul the carb and clean the pilot and main jet and passages and air filter. good luck, adrian

Sometimes these carb cleaners can break stuff loose, resulting a possible clogged jet. Best thing to do is just clean carbs the old school way with compressed air and spray carb cleaner. I wouldn't add octane boost unless you are running a high compression setup. The purpose of octane in gasoline is to prevent premature combustion. It enhances performance by allowing the fuel to ignite ate the correct time. In high compression setups, fuel has a tendency to ignite early as it is being compressed.
