Default Getting Ready to Pull the trigger on 850 XP

All,

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a 2010 Sportsman 850 XP EPS and either a triton ATV88 or ATV128-2 in the next week. As this will be my first ATV. Looking for any advise from the experts here ??? Just found the forums here and been reading ... and will keep reading...

Thanks ahead of time for any advise
dAVE

I have a Triton trailer for my machine....Triton is a well known proven quality trailer and you won't be disappointed...

If you have friends that ride, go with the 12' model. Sometimes the ride up and back to your riding spot can be as good as the ride itself.

Congrats on the XP. Since this is your first ATV and you want some advice here it is!

1. Take the free safety training course offered by Popo.

2. Take the time to become familiar with the riding characteristics of your XP-you picked one sweet/fast/powerfull ride to start out on.

3. Purchase some comfortable protective riding gear and use it.

4. Get a factory service manual.

5. Bookmark this website. Great resource to help with issues or modifications.

6. MOST IMPORTANT-enjoy the ride!!!!

Congrats!
Advice:Get ready for your face to be sore from smiling.
Everything switzomatic said. The 850 is no joke for a 1st ATV

Read the Owners Manual cover to cover right away...alot of it will be common sense and even seem silly...but many questions often asked on the forums are answered in the Owners Manual.

There is a tow hook on the front that you can use to strap the front down on the trailer..I have seen many people not new to ATVs strap to the winch,a-arms, frame ect. on the XPs and when I point out the loop they had never noticed it.

And lastly search 850 XP here and have fun reading until Thursday...you do that and you will be well ahead of the game on getting familiar with the machine.

Way to go Dave. You won`t regret your decision. I bought my 850-EPS a few weeks ago and I love the power and the suspension. Good luck, keep us posted!
