Default Newbie 2008 Sportsman 500EFI upgrade Questions

I have a stock 2008 Sportsman 500EFI that I am wanting to upgrade. What I had in mine was an air filter, clutch kit, EFI programmer (Big Gun or FMF) and possibly exhaust. Im having problems locating exhaust for the 500EFI does anyone have anything they are running. Which programmer is better and what do you recommend for the clutch kit?

HSP (Hot Seat Performance) makes the best sounding exhaust for the 500 that i have heard. Thinkin bout putting one on myself. For a clutch kit i installed the EPI kit and have had no problems with it. Very easy to install yourself as well and easy to follow instructions. EFI programmers I have the Dobeck kit and easy to install as well and can notice the power gain and increased acceleration.

How much difference did you notice with the Dobeck kit?

have never messed with one on a four wheeler, but the power commander from dynojet, we increased the hp on kawasaki zx 6 by 19 horse according to the dyno. and i'm pretty sure they make one for your bike.

From what info I've found, power commander has a module in the works for the 500 EFI. but has yet to release it. I too have been looking at upgrades for my 500 and will most likely go with HSP for the exhaust but I'm holdin out for dynojet to see what they come up with for a power mudule.

I noticed a lot more power in the low to mid throttle range, it really grabs has a LOT more jam to it with dobeck. Having the K&N filter works a bit better too with it breathing better.

Thanks for the feedback P500.

Did you do the clutch mod before or after the dobeck? Also what kind of riding do you do?

I ride in the desert and mountains - 6,000 to 12,000 feet up. Definitely notice the power loss at altitude. I'm running 25" Maxxis Bighorns and I'm trying to avoid the clutch mods for now. I know that upgrading to a 800 or 850 is the best answer, but I'm looking for cheaper options for now.
