2004 DS90... Major disaster!!!!!!
#1
Was washing my sons 2004 DS 90 2 stroke after our ride today and something went terrably wrong. He went shopping with his mom and I finished washing his quad and was ready to start washing mine. I tried starting his bike and it would not start. Pushed it to a dry place and tried for about 5 minutes to start it. It finally started and it took off on me!! Happened too fast to catch it and it went about 200 ft, went down an embankment and flipped over. It was still revving when it was upside down and then it shut off. It was verry scary to see.
Took it in the garage to get a look and all that apperas to be damaged is the left stub axle. Put it up on jack stands and it started firts try and didn't rev.
Questions for anyone who could help.
1. What would of caused this to happen? Was washing around the brake/throttle cables and may have tugged on the throttle cable?
2. What should I look for after a charsh like this?
3.Anyone ever hear of this happening?
Only positive thing about this is that my 5 year old son was gone with his mom and wasn't on the ATV. Can't see how I can ever feel safe with him riding this bike again......
Very lucky he wasn't hurt but a very sad day indeed.......

Ya, the throttle cable got pulled on and out of place IMO.
"What should I look for after a charsh like this?"
2 things....1)a 50-70cc machine for your 5 year old.<EG>.. 2)a tether switch for all your machines.
I always grab the tether when starting to avoid this type of thing happening....again..
The daughter crashed years ago, all us parents ran over, righted the machine and I grab the pull cord. It lit right up and spun tires up my leg. It HURT!
I'm also very happy the son wasn't on or even around to see that.
You must have been freaking out watching that thing run away.
