That O-ring goes around the top of the float bowl to keep the gas from sloshing out. There will be a groove either on the top of the float assembly the bowl mounts to , or on the top edge of the bowl itself.

Look carefully, with a bright light , you should see it. Carefully remove the old O-ring , and install the new one. I would take a Q-tip and dab a little Permatex # 2 on the groove to help the O-ring slide in and seal. Use the other end of the Q-tip to work the new ring into the groove. Be very patient, if you nick or break the O-ring, it will have to be replaced.

Make sure the carb vent tubes are unobstructed, kinked, or pinched during reassembly.

The float bowl has a square gasket. This is a big round gasket just like in the pic. I dont think it is used for the float bowl.

If your bowl is paper than this wont fit IMO.But if its is rubber than it will replaced your old gasket, these aftermarket parts are not indeniall to oem,in order to sell parts at an cheaper price.for instance this kit, they cant have an mold to shape these oring like the oem one so they use this type oring But IMO this has always work for me.. just hold this oring over the old bowl gasket while the old one is still inside the groove and shape it around an see if it will fit..If not...is your old one still good? if so than reuse it....Good Luck... keep us all updated please.....
