Picked up a 1998 Polaris scrambler 400 4x4 for my son last week from a coworker ($500 and its in real nice shape). So far I put a new starter on it and a new battery, drive belt, air/oil/fuel filter and spark plug; it runs like a raped ape. I discovered that the ETC switch has been removed and the 4x4 does not work. The 4x4 light does not come on and the front wheels will not engage. Kinda new to this ATV thing but I am mechanically inclined. Any direction on were to start would be appreciated.

 

The AWD light must come on for the AWD to work ,it part Of the circuit. Is it the oder push style AWD button or the improved slider AWD switch? You might need a new switch.
