Default Half Shaft Removal it's stuck

Hey everyone - I cant get my right front 1/2 shaft out of my EIGER - I know I'm in the Yamaha Forum but no body knows in the Suzuki forum. I've got issues and I wanta ride. - Know what I mean?

The deal is I've got my right side axle torn down to the point I'm trying to pull the half shaft out of the 'green egg' thing that's up close to the differential. Any advice on how to get it out and replace it? I pull on it and it's like there is a pin or washer in there. Keeping it from coming out.

I bought an entire half shaft to replace it cause the boot on the outside pulled back and messed up the bearings. I was looking at the one I bought to replace it with and It's straight splines with a small grove in it towarwds the end of the shaft.

Anybody got a clue how does it come out? How do I put it back in?

Everyone you guys rock - thanks so much for any input and help

Im not sure on your exact model but here is what I know. There are normally two ways the shaft is held into the inner joint. Either it has a cir clip or a snap ring. If it has a cir clip you "should" be able to pull outward on the shaft and it should pop out (sometimes easier said then done). If it has a snap ring on the front side towards you you will need to spread the snap ring open and pull the shaft out. The snap ring can also be on the back side of the bearing cage and race. The only way to get it apart then is to remove the shaft and all the bearing from the inner housing. This maybe possible to do with the other styles if it is easier for you. Some of the housings will have a wire ring that keeps the ball bearings from sliding out of the joint, simply remove the ring and slide out the shaft and all the bearing. If there is no snap ring then there is normally a few flat spots on the outside edge of where the ***** slide where is has been peened over to keep everything from sliding out. You will have to file or grind that part down until everything slides out.

Hope it helps.
