I have acquired a Z50 that could be an 07 model but looks brandnew. Where would I find the Vin # on this? I have no manual for the bike yet.

The problem I am having with the bike is that after charging the batt. on a trickle charger out of the bike. I turn it over with the key on and using the starter button and there is a black box under the seat that is about three inches square (roughly) that emits a lot of white smoke from it and the bike is not firing. From what I have read, I am assuming this is the CDI box. It has four wires going into it. Do these boxes go bad on their own or is there usually another culprit that causes this box to heat up and smoke?

 

Update to previous post.
When the ignition is turned on only, the CDI box becomes hot. And it has six wires going to it instead of the original four that I counted.
