I have a 96 Trail Boss with transmission trouble, does anyway have a walk through for getting the transmission off or apart to rebuild. Also does anyone have a list of what years and other models transmissions will work

 

These ATVs use the same 1341151 tranny. If you do the ebay rout.

I got my tranny out and took it apart. The only defect I can find is the hi or forward dog is just slightly rounded where it locks in.

 

Replace the dog and silent chain

 

Always replace the chain. When you are done fill the trans with Castrol Syntec 5w50 and the chain will last MUCH longer than it does using Polaris fluid.
