a while back my dads 05 sportsman 500 speedo quit working, just the part that tells you how fast you are going. he said at the same time he noticed the AWD light started flashing. the AWD works like it should but the light flashes. assuming the hall sensor is bad for the speedo since the AWD is working, why would the AWD light be flashing?

 

Just change the Hall Sensor to get the speedo back and see if it also corrects the flashing.

 

On my 2006 Sp 450 I can go into the speedo and check some stuff, Example volts AWD on /off reset the hour countdown for The Wrench icon, (service reminder) ohms reading for the different gears,Miles /Kilometers If you have this on your 05 you can at least see on the screen if the AWD turns on and off properly in this mode first........Caper........

 

checked that. when switched on, it would flash on-off-on-off. when switched to off, the word OFF would flash. we put the quad up on jacks and tried the AWD. it seemed to be working as it should. engaged when switched on and never kicked in and out of AWD when engaged. , switch to off, hit reverse and let the tires spin , then forward and it would disengage. but the light flahes in both 2wd and awd
