Default Carb help

Hi, I need help getting my carb off. I hav an '04 600 and the only thing I can't get off is the throttle cable. How does it diconnect from the carb? I took off the black plate and unscrewed the cable at the carb but the I can't get the cable off the carb! Any help would be great. Thanks

On my 02 700, which is basically the same as yours, I changed the jets and raised the needle without taking the carb off. I just unbolted the gas tank and rear gas tank support, loosened the carb clamps and rotated the carb 90 degrees one way to get at the needle (top) then back upright and 90 degrees the other way to get the bowl off and change the jet.

Worked for me. (BTW, you need a long , good quality screwdriver to get the bowl screws off, they strip easy)

there is a slot in the plate that the cable has to slide thru. You have to hold the throttle plate open with your fingers in order to get slack in the cable to slide thru that slot.

ok thanks, I'll try and hold the plate open and slide the cable off. If that doesn;t work I'll do what sammy said.

If you remove the air box you can bring the carb back in to that hole and work on the top or bottom, may have to cut a couple tie wraps so your cables have enough slack
