Default pure polaris expanding bungs

If I wanted to secure a piece of ply to the rear rack using the pure polaris expanding bungs can anyone tell me the max thickness of ply I could use?

Thank you

James

The solid part of the latches is just shy of an inch. But the stock bracketry that the latches use is maybe 1/8". So I would say you need to keep it as close to 1/8" or as thin as possible. Maybe use some scrap and make a couple test pieces. I am going to guess that anything over 1/2" isn't gonna have the "strength" to hold very well.

I made a box for the rear on my xp out of 1/2 ply worked fine used the ones off my stock front rack [with no modification]when i put on a front cargo box[polaris] if you have to grind someoff the plastic spacer [not the rubber one] the fastener should still work

the oem lock and ride locks arent for vary thick things. but to make them work. i removed the center threaded rod part and cut the head off 4 bolts. redrilled the small hole at the top for the latch. and used some nylon washers to make the thickness so the rubber washer at the bottom will compress and exspand to work though a 3/4" plywood sheet. works really well for the last 2 yrs. i also used a fender washer at the top. see if i can find some pictures.

the bottom rubber exspanding washer should sit bellow the bottom of the rack to get a good hold. if it dont it will slip out as most have figured out on here when they say it come loose with hard riding.

Boat drain plugs are also an alternative for the polaris plugs. I'm going to use boat drain plugs for a sprayer mount. Plus they're only a couple of bucks each.

I got some boat plugs at Walmart for about $4 each. You need to get the type that Chuck mentioned that have a screw on bottom. I like how Chuck modified his. It gives me some ideas to go on.
