Default Chain too loose?

Hi, newb here.......I was out on my trailblazer and there was a down tree in the path. It was a small tree so I just drove over it. The a$$ end bounced up and de-railed the chain. I managed to get it back on and it seemed fine for the rest of the ride. What "is" too loose? Sometimes when I look a the chain it's sagging on the rear swing arm......take it for a ride, stop and it looks fairly tight. Should I tighten it a little bit more? I read some posts about chains being too tight and busting the tranny casing when they break.....and that is "my type" of luck. TIA!!

If its the same as my 330 traiboss (Concentric drive) that is to loose. Should be about 3/8"-1/2" play if I remember correctly.
