400 Xplorer Starting problem
#1
Hey
ok i got a small problem with my xplorer 400 1998
it has been doing this ever since i bought it last year and now it starting to get annoying. or little worst. so might as well find out what the problem is now.
problem is after the atv has been sitting for more then a few hours, it wont start up unless i spray carb cleaner down the intake.
after i get it started and run it for a minute or so. I can then turn it off and it will start back up every time without the carb cleaner. untill i let it sit for a while.
also this might be a completely seperate problem. my fuel switch. to turn the gas off, on, and rev. does not seem to work.
the switch can be turned off and the atv will run like its not lacking fuel for a while until i kill it.
thanks

have you done a cpmpression test? it should be @ least 100 psi. has the carb been cleaned? does it matter if you pull the choke or not when you try to start it? the valve in the switch might be broke if it's not turning fuel off or on.

sounds like time for a top end rebuild to me.Check the compression needs to be very least 100psi 120psi better
