polaris transmission oil
#1
Several years ago I bought a 1996 Polaris Magnum 425. My transmission was making a whining noise so I checked and there was not oil in the transmission. I bought some pure direct drive fluid and it seemed to get a little better, but still whines. I just checked the transmission dip stick and there is a small amount of metal shavings on the stick.
The nearest Polaris dealer from me is 50 miles away. I spoke with a polaris dealer and asked if there was a substitute and he said polaris will not give that info to even the dealer. I spoke to a local Kawasaki dealer today and he said Bel ray gear saver transmission oil will work fine in a polaris. Will Bel ray transmission fluid 75 wt work in my Polaris or the Kawasaki dealer wrong? Thanks Guys!

The trans on your quad is pretty simple. Gears bearings and a chain for reverse. If you think it is damaged from lack of oil tear it down NOW before other damage is done.
It will not cost much to replace a bearing or two.
Replace the chain also.

I would say rebuild the tranny(new bearings and chain)then use Polaris AGL in it.These trannys are a chain case not gear driven like other trannys and need proper lube.
