Default 2011 Sportsman XP Touring

Hi All,

Have a few questions on the new 2011 SP XP Touring models...

The questions most likely relate to all 2011 XP models...but I am trying to decide to pull the trigger on 2 each. One 850 (for myself) and one 550 (for wife).

1. Does the 550 still have a higher idle...compared to the 850? Any concerns with the idle?

2. 550 engine reliability factor?

3. How does the EPS work on the XP Touring models?

4. Owner of a Touring??? How do you like it?

Thanks...and really do appreciate any info!

Question ...more questions...concerns...with Touring model

...also wanted to add to my questions...

I went to a local dealer today...and they have several 2010 XP Touring models. What I noticed was a few things...that are different than my 2009 Sportsman 850 XP.

1. Colored plastic's...rather than painted like my '09. Not sure I didn't get spoiled with the paint. Makes the machine look less attractive, but maybe more durable? Not sure...

2. These Touring models were STIFF!?!?! I mean...compared to my '09. So...not sure the ride will also be stiffer in comparison to my '09...which is the smoothest riding ATV I have ever owned.

Ok...Touring Members...Looking for your wisdom?!?!????

Yes higher clutch engagement than the 850.
550 Fuji better than the 850.
electric motor helps turn the front wheels
Tourings are great
colored plastic is more durable
yes touring and x2 or any 2 up has stiffer springs to carry extra weight

I dont think the 550 is a Fuji engine. It looks the same as the 850 missing one cylinder. I think they are both Weber designed engines

Hi NoJoke...

No unfortunately I didn't get a chance to ride either 850 or 550 Touring that they had in stock.

I'll have to give it a go next time I am in the area near the dealer.

Hi RickCJ7...

Thanks for the info!

But...why you say the 550 is better than the 850? Very interesting...

I figured the spring rates would be stiffer, but really hope they are not so stiff to tackle those mountain trails I enjoy riding. I will ride at 60 percent alone. So...don't want to get shaken off the trail. GRIN

Any other 2 up Owner's out there??? Would appreciate your view on ride with and without a passenger.

Regards,
biz

When I ride in front its a dream machine. When in the back, not as nice. If you can handle that I say thumbs up.

Fuji/Subaru have been building/designing engines a lot longer than Polaris!
