Default 2000 magnum charging problem

I have already put in a new battery, Old one would not stay charged (even when not used). But I think I have a problem with the stator or regulator also. Maybe why the battery only lasted 1 year.

With new battery installed there is still a slow flucuation from battery power 12.2-12.5V to 17.5V. at the battery. I also took reading at Reguator and it read a steady 14.5v at idle and steady 18.5v above idle. These readings only happen after it was warmed up. Before warm up I was only reading battery power.????

Ohm'ed cold stator: and did read very low mOhm's on Yellow, nothing on reg ohm setting when there should be no connection. The other readings were .5 ohms and they sould be .25 per the manual. So could the stator have a small problem since the readings are off just a little? I do not have a meter to read AC amps to do the Alernator output test per the manual just DC amps.

I also did the current draw checks with key off and with it running. Both checked good.

So do anyone think there is a problem or looks normal. Just do not want a new battery to go bad quick like I think the bad one did. (I know the old battery could have been just a bad itself quick).

I just do not like the low/no charge until warmed up and then high charge after warm up above idle.

i woud say if your reading that high of voltage the regulator is bad as that is what controls the amount of voltage. imo
