Default 1994 warrior: changed starter now no spark!!???

I just bought a fairly crappy 94 warrior. It was running ok last week when roll started(the starter was bad), I put a new starter on it and tried to start it today. It will crank but it's not getting any spark. The kill switch is disconnected so thats probably not the problem. The key was on and I'm positive it's not the plug or boot. is there a way for the quad to get spark by roll starting but not when cranking? parking break sensor? or would that just not let it crank at all? also i checked the coil and ignition switch with a test light and nothing lit up. should it? I'm guessing its not the stator since it was had spark when I shut it off. please help I'm about to start pulling my hair out...

why is the kill switch disconnected? did you do it or the previous owner? after running the other day, how did you kill it? you may look over the wiring harness especially by the CDI/coil. check for breaks in the wire. reconnect the kill switch because it's possible that it is killing the spark while cranking if the circuit is incomplete.

the previous owner did it, he rednecked tons of stuff on the bike, for example now it has a rigged up push button start near the carb....I pulled the kill switch box thing on the handlebars and the kill switch wires are just loose in there, I could see that making a difference but since it will roll start i don't think it is the problem...but i guess it could be? I just killed it by turning the key...this i don't get though....i tested the wire coming from the key ignition and it doesn't light up a test light when on or off? is that normal?
