hi all. I have a 97 425 Magnum that only has spark when letting off the start button. What started all of it, was a buddy was working on it for me, and he was putting in a new rectifier. Turns out after he brought it back, saying it wouldn't start and left it torn apart. What I found was what he thought was the rectifier, wasn't. He tried putting the rectifier in place of the box above the CDI unit. After I put the original part back on, and put the rectifier in the correct spot, it still won't spark. Of course the pull rope broke off on him, he bought me a new one, but I have to put it in, he isn't helping me anymore with it. Any ideas?

 

I am leaning towards either a stator or CDI unit. I put a new coil on it previously.

 

I have an update. He says that it ran for a little bit with the rectifier plugged into where the low rev limiter goes. He did buy me a CDI unit for it, which didn't fix it. Could it be the other RPM limiter?
