Default Erratic spark on 05 Eton Viper 90R

Hi, guys or gals. Newbie to the forum here. I have had this quad for my son for about a year now, the quad has ran perfect and all of a sudden, after 5-10 minutes of riding, the quad starts to bog and wont idle. The only way the quad will start back up is if I put the gear selector in (N) and shut the key off for a minute. Its almost like I have to reset the system. The quad had the carb cleaned, and a new plug, and a new battery. I brought it to a shop up the street from me, and he put a spark tester on the plug wire and took it for a ride.. The spark faded after 5 minutes or so, and it started running like crap again.. He shut it down and did the same as I mentioned above, and it started up no problem and it does the same after another couple of minutes.. He told me that its the CDI, but after reading some of the topics on this forum, I am not sure if I should spend the money.. And information is greatly appreciated..

I'd lean toward the CDI also.
Better find out the tolerances and check the ohms.

LT, where would I be able to find the tolerances? Also, what wires on the CDI would I be checking for Ohms?

Maybe you can find someone that sold etons or a manual.
There should be 2 wires that come from the motor.
One will be the charging side and the other the ignition side. You will check the ignition side.
Sorry, I don't know the exact colors for the wires or the ohm numbers.
