Default Xplorer 400 starter problem Pop sound

Hey Guys trying to fix up my Xplorer 400 as a backup machine.

When i try to start it i get the loud click or pop sound coming from that switch next to the battery. I pulled the starter which was a huge pain in the butt and everything seemed fine there. My book says something about cleaning that switch. Do these switches just up and die or can they be cleaned and work again? Or do you think it's something else. Also when I put my finger on the little box next to the battery I can feel it when it makes that click pop sound.
Thanks guys.

The vast majority of the time when you have this problem it is your starter brushes. If your starter is fine then replace the solenoid.

How sure are you that your battery and connections are good?

Did you bench test the starter with a set of jumper cables before you put it back on?
