Default What kind of plastic are the body panels made of?

I have a couple of cracks on a 98 Sportsman. Minor, but I don't want them to spread. I'm going to plastic weld them, but need to know what kind of plastic they are so I can use the correct filler rod.

Most of the panels seem to be polypropylene, and the black trim seems to be ABS. But, I might be wrong. I called polaris, and they didn't know.... and they made the damn thing. They told me to call a dealer, so I did, and the dealer told me to call Polaris.

Does anyone know?

What about the black trim? This seems more rigid and brittle, I'm thinking that the trim is ABS.

Since we are on the subject. I have a 99 sportsman and it has a good crack on the front plastics. I have been studying plastic welding and think I could do it easily. my question is I have plastics here from another polaris if I was to cut a slice off of the junk 1 will I be able to use it as a filler rod since its the same composite???
Thanks don`t mean or intend to hijack thread.

Randyneff...Is your fender ripped completly off? if so. I don,t see any problem piecing together and weld.... are you wanting to use other fender parts instead of rod??? then i'm not sure it will melt or weld the same as an rod thats design to weld, melt and weld to two pieces.......

No its not riped off yet, on the front right side near where my knee would be there is a crack about 8" long. If i cut a piece off of the spare fender (that is junk) about a 1/8" strip I was thinking it would act like a plastic welding rod since its the same material and has the same melting point, am I wrong in thinking this?
Thanks for the input Randy.

I have to repair my sportsman body as well as a kayak and looking into plastic welding. Many instructions recommend cutting a strip from an unseen portion of the same panel to be used as filler material. Your use of a junk piece should be fine, by their way of instruction.
