Default Royal purple oil?

Stopped by my local parts store to pick up a couple qts. of mobile 1 for an oil change and noticed they now carry royal purple 0w-40. Has anyone tried this and what do you guys think of it. They also started selling amsoil in a few different weights but not in 0-40 but they're going to check and see if they could get it in or carry it without special ordering it just for me.

Royal purple has a good name in the racing industry...I personally wouldn't hesitate using it if i could get it for a decent price.

Thumbs up Royal Purple

I started using Royal Purple 5w20 back in 2003...on my vehicles. As a matter of fact...it was on my NEW 2003 Honda Civic. I started using it on the very first oil change at 5000 miles...and 140,000 miles later...NEVER an issue. That car was a runner...and always got great mileage. Owned it for 7yrs...and it never had to visit the dealer.

My 2005 Honda Odyssey and 2010 Accord...are on RP too! Now that they make it in the 0w40...I'd consider it for the 2011 Tourings.

It was a little pricey ($11.99 a qt.) but that ain't saying much, I just paid $8.00 a qt. for the mobile 1. Next trip in I'll see if they were able to get a hold of the amsoil 0w-40. I'd pay a little extra for that since I know it's HIGH QUALITY! If not I'm considering the RP but not sure. I just sat down and read an independent study on synthetic 80-90 gear lube (for the truck this spring) and the RP did pretty good but failed miserably in some tests where the OEM fluids (Mopar ,GM, and ford) did way better which I did not expect. Amsoil was overall top dog 15 brands(not best at everything mind you) Castrol and mobile 1 coming in 2nd and 3rd, OEM's in the middle of the pack, RP just behind OEM. And get this, Lucas oils came in dead last! Big shock there! (no sarcasm intended) But that was for gear lubes not motor oil so the RP motor oil may fair better in a head to head with the others. IDK?

I had the same impression of their products. However, everything I have heard about their stuff has been word of mouth. The only Lucas products I've used was their Injector Cleaner and speaking from that experience, Seafoam works better.
