From the ATV Connection editors:

The process should begin with you removing the axle nuts. Because of the leverage required here, we find it works best to do this with everything still on the machine. Once you get the nuts loosened, go ahead and take off the wheels, hubs and rear brake.
Of course due to space restrictions, we do hope you realize that in addition to wheels, hubs, axle nuts, washers, spacers and o-rings that will have to come out in the process but once you’ve got them removed, you should be able to pull the axle out towards the brake side.
We have found it easier to use a long 1/2" rod as a punch with which to lightly tap the axle out from the differential. If the axle still refuses to budge, using a pry bar may yield similar results but in either situation, use extreme caution not to damage the differential’s housing.
Though not cheap, you may want to consider investing in an axle slide hammer for the actual task of pulling free the axle (which has proven invaluable to the staff of ATV Connection in these situations).
Thank you for asking your question!
