Default oil for 2011 xp 850

Does the engine oil also lubricate the clutch on the 2011's.If so I heard using a full syn. oil is not good for the clutch(causes slippage). Thanks in advance.

no polaris clutches have no oil, if you own one sounds like you better study up on how they work

The 08-10 Sportsman 400`s and Hawkeye models have inner engine clutches that are lubricated by oil. The other models don`t.

Only the transmissions are lubricated, not the clutches. The cvt clutches are all belt driven and dry. OPT

There are two clutches. The belt driven clutch and the engine clutch. The engine clutch is lubricated by oil. I know. Take it apart and see.

Actually the 08-10 Sp 400 and Hawkeye have three clutches. The primary clutch and the secondary clutch which are driven by the belt and the engine clutch which is located behind the primary clutch inside a cover that bolts to the engine and is lubricated by engine oil. I guess you could call it a wet clutch. Here is a picture of it.

YES on the Aeon/Fugi crossbreed engine and trans there is an internal centrifical clutch such as on the old Honda 3 and 4 wheelers, the clutches we were talking about are the outer ones. As far as oil causing the internal clutch to slip, this is a completely different system than the clutch plates in a motorcycle or manual trans atv.As the first poster asked about oil and slipping(if he was actually talking about the internal clutch) then he could use Amsoil,Polaris Mobil1,or any oil that meets the viscosity rating without problems on the clutch slipping, full synthetic is what is recommended on all polaris engines.. I call this engine/trans version a crossbreed as Aeon supplied their own frames and power plants and trans for the earlier Hawkeye (200),Sawtooth (200),Phoenix (200) and the kids atv's. Just a way to get a Fugi motor stuck in it! OPT
