Went riding this Friday ( actually more like mudding ) and I hit a ditch at pretty good speed and the front nose dived and stopped the quad in it's tracks. After doing some more riding we stopped for the day. I happened to look at the struts and they are both leaking oil bad. It's dripping down the strut. So I got some repairs to do.

Should I go aftermarket or oem? Plan on keeping the quad for along time. I mainly trailride and go mudding. Also is this something I can do myself? And special tools required? I read some places you need a spring compressor and some say you don't. Thanks for any replies.

 

I read there are some nice aftermarket kits that allow you to put a threaded adaptor on the struts, so you can fine tune the spring tension to your riding, that might be something to look into. You should be able to get by with a replacement strut, im not sure, are they rebuildable, like shocks? might be cheaper if you can go that route, and have them revalved for your weight and riding style.
