Looking at 2002 DS650 need input!

New on here and looking for a new 4 wheeler! I use to have 660 Raptor, and loved it. But was stupid and sold it a couple years back. I'm itching to get back on one.
I had a guy contact me. And he has a 2002 DS650 with full white brothers exhaust. But needs a new ECU, Rectifier, and starter gears aligned.
He told me to make him a offer. What do you guys thank its worth?

Electrical issues can be a bit of a headache to figure out on the DS. It sounds like this guy has some electrical issues but has not figured out the problem. Assuming it needs everything that is listed your not going to be able to start it or even see what kind of compression it is making. To risky if I was looking to buy a used one. You could very well end up spending more in the long run just to get this thing running right. THere are plenty of used DS's out there at good prices that are in good running order. It doesn't sound like this is one of those. Personally I would pass it up and look for one that is in good running condition.

Ya I have read online that they can have some electrical issues. I do plan on tearing into what ever I get and do a big bore kit among other mods.
If I do decide to buy this what would be a good price to throw at him?

How is sure that it needs a CDI and a regulator/rectifier? They don't normally go at the same time. And the starter only goes into the opening one way, jiggle it a little till the gears align then tighten the two bolts.
I'd give it a good look because it doesn't sound like the owner is too sure of what's wrong with it. Might be something as simple as a blown fuse that's being overlooked.
Where are you located? I'd be willing to check it out for you if it's nearby.

Dont do it...my life has been a nightmare with ds elecrtical issues...not worth it..took me 4 yrs and tons of time to find and fix it..do a search and read my post...you would be better off over paying for one without any electrical issues..just my opinion

yeah electrical can be a pain in the rear but at the same time,i have gotten deals where people didnt know what they had or no clue and it was something simple>sometimes knowing your way around a machine or anything internal combustion engine related comes in handy. If it can be had for a song and dance i would get it.Dont over pay though.
